Current Projects in 2018

1) Backstage Refurbishment Project - Completed April 2018

The Theatre Management made a funding application earlier this year to the Arts Council of Wales to carry out refurbishment at the back of the Theatre.  The Friends were offering £15,000 on a matchfunding basis towards this project.

Sarah Ecob, General Manager of Venue Cymru and Theatr Colwyn, spoke to the assembled members prior to the business of the AGM  in October 2017.  She reported that funding of £48,112.00 had been granted by the Arts Council for Wales and this would be pooled with the £15,000 of match funding from The Friends of Theatr Colwyn, together with £8,500  from a Reserve Fund for Theatr Colwyn.

The work to be undertaken is refurbishment and improvement of back stage areas being dressing rooms, showers and toilets, including a new heating system, which has been successful in Venue Cymru.

2) Grants to Amateur Theatre Groups

To assist amateur theatre groups and to encourage their use of Theatr Colwyn, the Friends of Theatr Colwyn are offering to make discretionary awards of £100 per production for local amateur theatre groups putting on productions at Theatr Colwyn.  Such groups to be based within Conwy County Borough.  These awards will be limited to a maximum of £500 in any 12 month period.  Please contact our Secretary, Pat Greenhill, for more information - see our Contact page.

3) Seat Replacements

Due to increased footfall, a good number of the seats in the Theatre have deteriorated.  The Friends have so far contributed £1,500 towards the necessary replacements.
